Our friends are back with more tips from their mountain biking skills clinic with Roots MTB, where they learned a variety of invaluable riding techniques. In the video below, they share what they learned about taking tight corners at speed.

There is a lot more to cornering than you’d expect. So here is a summary of what they learned:

  1. Get enough speed to pull through the corner without pedaling
  2. Keep your pedals level with bodyweight centered over the bike as you approach the turn
  3. At the turn, lean your bike towards the inside of the corner and your hips to the outside
  4. Straighten out your bike position and then pedal as you exit the turn

This method may seem counterintuitive at first, but it’s the fastest way to cut around a tight corner. Thanks again to Roots Mountain Biking for the clinic, and be sure to check back again next week for more mountain biking tips!
